I got asked to do this cake for a friend of a friend for her wedding. She initially wanted me to do all the cakes for her wedding, but since I am not licensed, I wasn't able to do so. I suggested doing a fake cake for the centerpiece instead of spending a ton of money on a real one, and that way she could just get sheet cakes, cupcakes or whatever else for the guests to eat. We had one at our wedding almost 10 years ago and no one knew the difference, and by looking at this cake, I am pretty sure you couldn't tell if it was edible or not, either! :) I also did the floral arrangement for the top and put together the ribbon and rhinestones to go around the tier bases. I hope to get a picture from the bride of the cake in the venue, and if I do I will post it on here, too. :)
I grew up in a small town and am lucky enough to have two amazing grandmas and a wonderful mom in my family who taught me how to bake. My mom had a cake baking/decorating business when I was growing up so that is what fueled my interest in cakes...birthday cakes, wedding cakes, cupcakes ... you name it - I love them!
