This was a fun cake to make! It's made of 2 layers of chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream topped with fondant. The corner posts are pretzel rods covered with fondant and the rope is, of course, pull and peel licorice! The birthday boy was very impressed with his cake, so much so that he did not want it to be cut! :)

This Dr Seuss theme cake was for a coworker's little girl. It was super fun to make and I think turned out really well! The cake was chocolate cookies & cream with cookies & cream frosting, covered in marshmallow fondant. Here's another Dora cake I also did this past weekend. Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. :) No cakes scheduled for this coming weekend, I get to go watch my sister go to her first PROM!
Next weekend I have a NDSU graduation cake as well as possibly another kid cake, I'll leave that theme a surprise for now....I think it will be another fun one! Here are some pictures of cakes I've done recently, quite a few more coming up in the next few months, too! The Minnie cake was made for my cousin's little girl, Aubree. She is a lover of all things PINK! The cake was strawberry with strawberry cream cheese frosting (pink, of course!!). I had fun doing this cake, I like things that are a challenge, and this cake certainly was one! :) This princess cake was for our friend's 6 year old girl. It was chocolate with vanilla buttercream and covered in the marshmallow fondant. I used a pink shimmer dust on the pink parts, but I don't think it really showed up all that well. It was definitely PINK! :) Last, but not least, a cake for a coworker's son - Captain America shield, marble cake with vanilla buttercream. :) This cake was a challenge to keep the lines as straight as I could, but I think it turned out ok, most importantly, all the birthday kids liked their cakes! :)
A quick picture of a cake I did this weekend for a friend's 2 year old, Emily. The cake was chocolate with a layer of oreos in the middle frosted with cream cheese frosting. From what I heard, it was a huge hit. ;-)
I know there are many, MANY UND fans out there, hopefully they will appreciate my newest creation. . .I thought about going the easy route and doing the green/white more geometric logo that the college has, but this is what I think of, when I think of UND. :) Plus, I always like a challenge. I'm not happy with the writing on the cake, the frosting was a bit too stiff...better luck next time! :)
Here are some photos of a cake I made this weekend. The flavor was Key Lime with cream cheese frosting. I made all the decorations on it with Wilton Gum Paste. :) You can find the recipe for the cake HERE. The cupcakes that went along with the cake were the Cherry Almond Vanilla flavor. I used half a cherry and piped frosting on the top to kind of mimic a fishing bobber. :)
I made this cake for my cousins little girl, Aubree, who turned 2. Elmo is her favorite, so an Elmo cake it had to be! This guy took me at least 2 1/2 hours to bake and frost ~ he was a wee bit time consuming. :) But everyone loved him, so it was worth it. I made him using a white cake mix using the snickers cupcake recipe and frosted him with my mom's cake decorator frosting.
